Description: In 1899, Björn Ahlgrenson settled by lake Racken outside Arvika, in the artist colony that had been established there. His wife, Elsa Lindström, was the sister of the painter Fritz Lindström, who also moved to Värmland later. This painting of an early spring day in Värmland is characterised by rich colours, grainy, flickering effects and decorative lines. The work is representative of both Ahlgrenson and the atmospheric painting style at the turn of the century.

Beskrivning: Björn Ahlgrenson slog sig 1899 ned i trakten kring sjön Racken utanför Arvika där en hel konstnärskoloni etablerades. Konstnärens hustru Elsa Lindström var syster till målaren Fritz Lindström, som också han senare flyttade till Värmland. Denna målning av en värmländsk vårvinterdag kännetecknas av en mättad färgpalett, korniga, flimrande effekter och en dekorativ linjeföring. Verket är representativt såväl för Ahlgrenson som för sekelskiftets stämningsmåleri.
