DescriptionDescription: Johan Fredrik Eckersberg depicted the magnificence of the Norwegian landscape. His idiom lets us encounter wide expanses and impressive mountains. This painting is from a highland area in Norway, and was painted in the bright light of a sunrise. It belonged to Karl XV, who owned the era’s largest collection of contemporary art. It reflected the contemporaneous artworld, as well as representing the artistic and geographic diversity of the Sweden-Norway union.
