DescriptionDescription: Catholicism and its rites fascinated Protestant Northerners visiting Italy. Here, the subject is the Feast of Corpus Christi, at the moment when the Pope is carried around the colonnade at St. Peter's Square. The man at the bottom left, who meets the viewer's eyes, is the artist Olof Södermark, with whom Lundgren spent time in Rome.
