DescriptionDescription: Laid down. Inscribed at lower right in pen and black ink: Guillaume Cortese (Tessin), numbered 499 (Sparre) Dieter Graf considers this sheet a preparatory study for a never executed painting. The drawing seems, however, to lack the characteristic strength of an original sheet and is supposedly a copy after a lost drawing by Cortese. In Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf there is a study for the small angel child to the left in the drawing [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 673]
