DescriptionDescription: Bærentzen, having originally trained as a pharmacist and a lawyer, finally went in for a career as an artist. He became a popular portraitist and has come to be known, not least, for his many detailed images of families in middle-class interiors. Here, he has collected studies of four members of his family on a single sheet: his father, Christian Bærentzen, his wife, Frederikke Helene, his son Alexander, and a foster-son.
