DescriptionCatalogue raisonné: Description in Flemish paintings C. 1600-C. 1800 III, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 2010, cat.no. 10: Technical notes: The support consists of a single piece of smooth and even plain weave fabric. The original canvas has been lined and mounted on a non-original stretcher. All the tacking edges have been preserved and broad cusping is present on the left side. The canvas has been prepared with a dark reddish ground layer that has been applied thickly and evenly. The imprimatura is light and pinkish, partly visible in areas where the paint layer has abraded. The paint has been applied opaquely with highlights in white. The green pigments display some alterations to brown in the areas of foliage. Cracks and craquelure can be found, mainly in the areas with dark pigments. The painting is covered with thick, oxidised varnish. On the reverse are two labels with text (Royal Museum). The painting underwent conservation treatment in 1923.
