DescriptionDescription: Antoine Monnoyer studied under his father, Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer. He travelled widely, visiting Rome, Amsterdam, London and Copenhagen. In 1733-1734 he lived in Stockholm. He painted decorative flower garlands, fruits, birds and ornaments in Queen Sofia Magdalena’s future bedroom in the Royal Palace. For the Pillar Hall of what is now the Bernadotte Apartments he painted flower pieces such as this one. They were replaced by mirrors in the 1780s.
