DescriptionDescription: The Trojan shepherd Paris was forced to choose who was most beautiful of the goddesses Venus, Minerva and Juno. Paris chose Venus, who is understandably the focus of Coypel’s sensual depiction. In the background we see Juno, her companion Iris, and Mercury, who served as witness. In the foreground is Minerva, reaching for her clothes, helmet and shield. Venus rewarded Paris by giving him the love of Helena, most beautiful of mortal women.
