DescriptionDescription: This is the only known portrait of Countess Palatine Elisabet Amalia, the sister of Charles X Gustav. According to an inscription, she was 7 years and 5 months old when it was painted. The same year as the picture is dated, the young countess died. The portrait is attributed to Jacob Heinrich Elbfas. He came to Sweden in 1622 with Elisabet Amalia’s father, John Casimir. In his early years in Sweden, Elbfas did most of his work for this family.
