DescriptionDescription: Laid down. Inscribed in pen and black ink 1 cm up from bottom towards the right: Valesio (Tessin's hand). Numbered on lower right side: 983 (Sparre). This drawing of the Bust of a Woman in Left Profile is probably a study for one of the centrally placed figures in the bottom section of a large engraving by Ghiberti Borromeo of the Announcemant of the Defense of a Dissertation. Bartsch regarded the engraving, based on Andrea Camassei, as one of Valesio's last works. The thesis was dedicated to Pope Urban VIII (1623-1644). Birke rejects the attribution [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 1665]
