DescriptionDescription: Carrier-Belleuse was one of the period’s most commissioned sculptors. He made portraits and sculptures on romantic themes. From 1876 he was head of the Sèvres porcelain factory. He had an enormous studio and many prominent pupils, including Auguste Rodin. Carrier-Belleuse chose traditional subjects, but was modern in his free manner of modelling and in his materials. This young woman is between two loves – romantic and maternal.
