DescriptionDescription: Venus, the love goddess of ancient mythology, is depicted with her winged son Cupid, portrayed as a mischievous boy holding the arrow with which he awakens lust in gods and humans. Venus archly meets the viewer's eyes while demonstratively covering her sex with a transparent veil, which reveals more than it hides. The motif might have a moralizing undertone – a warning for the sensual temptations of Venus’ body.
