DescriptionDescription: Ivan Ivarson belonged to a group of artists known as the Gothenburg Colourists. Using strong colours and a vague, liquescent idiom, they often depicted everyday scenes. They had trained in Gothenburg in the 1920s and were inspired by such painters as the Frenchman Pierre Bonnard. This self-portrait was begun by Ivarson in Cagnes in southern France and finished after his return to Sweden.
