DescriptionDescription: Marja Casparsson’s training in the 1920s included periods at Carl Wilhelmson’s painting school and the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. She mainly painted portraits, but unlike her peers Siri Derkert and Vera Nilsson she never achieved fame. This portrait of her mother, the textile artist Anna von Feilitzen, clearly demonstrates the artist’s expressive brushwork and warm colours. It was painted the same year as her mother died, aged 100.
