DescriptionDescription: The writer Artur Lundkvist came to Stockholm in the 1920s and began to move in the circles around Ivar Lo Johansson, Harry Martinson and Karin Boye. In 1928 he made his debut with a book of poetry called Glöd (Glowing Embers), and the same year as his friend Bror Hjorth sculpted his portrait, Atlantvind (Atlantic Wind) was published, containing essays on North American and Swedish modernists. Lundkvist’s pioneering prose and Hjorth’s expressive forms in wood represent two sides of the mod- ernist breakthrough.
