DescriptionDescription: Albertina Friederike was the mother of the future Swedish king Adolf Frederick. Her black headdress may indicate that the portrait was painted after she was widowed in 1726. The work is attributed to Balthasar Denner, who was born in Hamburg and worked at several princely courts, including that of Holstein. His children, both his only son and his daughters, worked in his studio. They often added clothes, backgrounds and other less essential elements to their father’s portraits.
