DescriptionDescription: To operate with as little friction as possible, machines need bearings. The invention by Sven Wingquist in Sweden of the innovative double-row spherical ball bearing in 1906 laid the foundation for SKF’s international successes. In MoMA’s exhibition, the ball bearing was displayed on a pedestal. It became an emblem of mechanical aesthetics and a US machine age in rapid development.
