DescriptionDescription: Verso: Studies for the adoration of the sheperd (damaged). The drawing verso repeats the composition recto in reverse and some figures are further treated separately. In the 18th and 19th centuries this drawing was considered to be the work of Raphael. In 1963 Bernice Davidson suggested that the drawing might be a work by Perino del Vaga, during his early years as an apprentice with Ridolfo Ghirlandaio. Griswold preferred an attribution to Ridolfo, himself comparing the shepherds in the drawing with corresponding figures in a picture in Snite Museum of Art, Notre Dame, attributed to Ridolfo or his circle.
