DescriptionDescription: Christ on the cross surrounded by S. Francesco Saverio and S. Francesco de Sales. Watermark: IHS in ring. Numbered at lower right in pen and brown ink: 533. (Sparre). Verso: A study of a drapery. Preparatory study for the altarpiece in I Re magi, Palazzo di Propaganda Fide. The painting is a work of Ludovico's youth, executed in the period 1665-66. The painting was first mentioned as a work by Ludovico in 1674. It has later been attributed to his father Giacinto, whose style can be recognized in the representation of S. Francesco Saverio.
