DescriptionDescription: The Virgin and Child. To the right in the back-ground St. Joseph, St. john as a Child and St. Elisabeth. Laid down. Inscribed at lower left in pen and grey ink: jacinto Brandi(Germisoni?). Numbered on the old mount at lower right in pen and brown ink: 491 (Sparre) The traditional attribution to Giacinto Brandi, probably originating from Pio, is not convincing. Philip ouncey recognized the hand of Giacinto Calandrucci. There is every reason to compare the composition with a painting in Grenoble, attributed to Calandrucci by Marco Chiarini. It has the same rather rare iconography with the Christ child rading a book. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 641]
