DescriptionDescription: Laid down. Numbered at lower right in pen and brown ink: 402 (Sparre) Sirén accepts the traditional attribution to Federigo Zuccaro, altought he is hesitant because of the "clumsy composition". Nicolas Turner has felt a similar hesitation and suggests a follower, Niccolò Martinelli il Trometta as a possible alternative. Trometta´s artistic personality has been investigated by J.A. Gere. Gere himself is prepared to suggest an attribution to Taddeo and to a later and more "classical" phase than other such treatments of the subject, dating the drawing to the late 1550s. [Bjurström, It.
