DescriptionDescription: Ascribed traditionally to Cambiaso. The present re-attribution to Bergamesco rests on agreements in style with a St. Andrew in Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt, that carries an old attribution to this artist. Mary Newcome is prepared to accept this and refers to "the small, nervous, hooked pen strokes in the draperies, often accenting and repeating the rhytm of contour lines", which she finds characteristic. In addition, she notes how the "figures are pressed tightly in the foreground with little atention to perspective", a feature which Bergamesco had in common with his younger colleague and close collaborator Cambiaso.
