DescriptionDescription: A Dying Monk Attended by Four Brethren. Laid down. The earliest record of this drawing is in the 1790 inventory, where it occurs as an addendum. The attribution there to Magnasco was accepted by Sirén in 1944. The Venetian origin of the sheet was recognized later; Sebastiano Ricci has been suggested, as has Gaspare Diziani (by Janos Scholz). The latter seems to be the most plausible attribution to date, though no link has been found with any of the master's known works. [Bjurström, It. Drawings, cat. no. 182]
