DescriptionDescription: Watermark Fragment of a lily and a B. Numbered at right in pen and brown ink: 1285 (Sparre), at lower right 1334 (struck out). This sheet cannot be traced back beyond the inventor of 1790, where it is ascribed to Andrea Celesti. Only a few drawings undoubtedly by Celesti are known, one being in the Morassi collection in Milan, another in Museo Correr, Venice. The Albertina in Vienna has a sheet with a traditional attribution to him, while one in the Uffizi, Florens is more doubtful. The picture to be derived from these sheets of Celesti´s art as a draughtsman is by no means uniform and under no circumstances can they be said to support an attribution of our drawing to Celesti.
