DescriptionDescription: This chair was part of a set made in 1754 for the king’s dining room at the new Royal Palace in Stockholm. The carving was probably done by one of the French craftsmen employed to decorate the interior. Through them, new know-how spread to their Swedish counterparts. Unlike most chairs, this one has carving on the back and was thus intended to be viewed from behind. This shows that it was used by royalty, as normally they were the only ones allowed to sit, for example at meals.
