DescriptionCatalogue raisonné: Description in Flemish paintings C. 1600-C. 1800 III, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 2010, cat.no. 122: Technical notes: Today this portrait forms part of suite in a frame on the wall/ceiling. The canvas is of plain-weave fabric, its tacking edges have been preserved. The paint layers are thinly applied over a ground. The painting is in very bad condition. Bibliography: Cat. Gripsholm I, 1951, p. 13. This portrait was painted in the 19th century and is based on an earlier portrait tradition in the manner of Frans Luyckx. The execution of the work is simple from a stylistic and technical point of view and today it forms part of a suite of portraits in a frame above the doors at Läckö Castle. Formerly it had a different frame and is listed with a number in the inventory of the Grips holm collection. The original from 1637/1638 can be seen in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (inv. no, GG 8024). KS [End]
