DescriptionDescription: This façade drawing for a garden pavilion in Meudon is interesting as it indicates how buildings and greenery in the form of clipped hedges and avenue trees were increasingly in a symbiotic relationship after 1700. After the death of King Louis XIV, Le Nôtre’s great-nephew Claude Desgots was assigned main responsibility for this royal garden and he also lived there. In 1721–25, Carl Hårleman lived and worked with his teacher Desgots in Meudon.
