DescriptionDescription: This anonymous section drawing shows the interior of an architecturally designed grotto featuring niches crowned with mussel shells and dripstone decoration, which was a legacy from the Italian Renaissance. This idiom was introduced by Mannerist artists such as Rosso Fiorentino and Francesco Primaticcio at Fontainebleau in the mid-16th century.
