DescriptionCatalogue raisonné: Bortolozzi, Italian Architectural Drawings from the Cronstedt Collection, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 2020 (cat.no. 75) Anon. late 16th-century French draughtsman, Hand B of the Cronstedt Collection Pen and brown ink, straightedge, compass and freehand, 41.2/41.4 × 28.2/27.9 cm NMH CC 1309Br PAPER: trimmed edges, traces of skinning and remnants of paper along the lower edge WATERMARK: none visible INSCRIPTIONS: letters A to R; symbols; measurements MEASUREMENTS: Roman palmi; no scale PROVENANCE: Carl Johan Cronstedt and descendants; Eric Langenskiöld; gift to the Nationalmuseum of Stockholm 1941 BIBLIOGRAPHY: unpublished This carefully measured section of the Tempietto is linked by means of letters and symbols to the details drawn in NM H CC 1341 (Cat. no. 76), NM H CC 1343r (Cat. no. 77) and NM H CC 1343v (Cat. no. 78). Among the several drawings of the Tempietto in other collections, three other drawings (Berlin, New York, Florence) show an orthogonal projection of a section. The Nationalmuseum drawing may depend on the full section of the Tempietto at the Metropolitan Museum (Goldschmidt Scrapbook 68.769.47r). In the New York drawing, the architectural decorative elements (such as capitals and bases of columns) are fully represented, while the Stockholm draughtsman sketched them schematically. The New York drawing is not linked to other detail drawings and does not bear key letters. [end]
