DescriptionDescription: The assignment was to design a pedestal without expensive fittings. Tore became one of Ikea’s biggest sales successes. During his career, Gillis Lundgren designed hundreds of pieces of furniture, including the bookshelf Billy and the Lövet coffee table, which was the first piece Ikea sold in flat packages in 1956. However, the idea had already been used in 1944 by Nordiska Kompaniet, with the Triva furniture series, which was sold in flat packages to be assembled by the customer at home.
