DescriptionDescription: Pilgrim flasks that were purely decorative existed as early as the 16th century, and were often in faience or glass. They were found in places such as Italy and were not intended for use by pilgrims. This pilgrim flask from Gustavsberg is a copy of Italian Renaissance style and was probably one the factory’s products that could command higher prices. In the late 19th century, majolica was the accepted name for objects that were glazed in majolica colours, dark earthy tones and yellow and blue.
