DescriptionDescription: The portrait of Lovisa Ulrika, Sweden’s new Crown Princess, as the rose-tinted dawn goddess Aurora, was commissioned secretly in Paris in 1744 by Carl Gustaf Tessin. His agent was the court superintendent Carl Hårleman, in the city to recruit artists to work in the palace in Stockholm. The artist Latinville, Nattier’s assistant, had to use a miniature portrait by Antoine Pesne. The lavishly decorated frame was designed by Hårleman and carved in Paris
