DescriptionDescription: In 1966, Karin Björquist was commissioned to design an exclusive service that would be allowed a higher retail price. The angular shapes challenged the idea that a plate had to be round. A bold idea but not new; the shape has roots in traditional Chinese wares. Röd kant (Red Edge) rapidly gained international acclaim from high-profile designers such as Ettore Sottsass and Sir Terence Conran and were written about in Design Journal, the leading British magazine in this field. Despite this, the service was only made for a short period. The production of the plates was complicated, and the factory ceased manufacturing earthenware at the same time.
