DescriptionDescription: Hans Wegner’s JH501 chair was often used in the American periodical House Beautiful and was shown in the exhibition Design in Scandinavia that toured the USA in 1954–1957. It also featured in the first televised presidential debate between Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard M. Nixon on 26 September 1960. Wegner’s chair was thus situated in a larger narrative of design and diplomacy, acting as a powerful symbol of the exchange between the US and the Nordic countries.
