BiographyBiography: Alice Nordin (1871-1948) was the daughter of a carpenter. She and siblings were early trained in drawing by their father. Alice and her sister Hjördis (1877-1969) studied at the preparatory Technical School and at the Academy of Arts in Stockholm. They continued their studies in the private academies in Paris, where also women had the right to practice life drawings from models. Alice Nordin won many prizes for her sculptures and travelled widely in Europe. In 1905 she was appointed the most prominent woman artist in Sweden by the magazine Idun.
