This splendid musical clock, made in Berlin, can play minuets and, according to tradition, Fredrik II of Prussia gave it to his sister Lovisa Ulrika of Sweden. Just after Gustav III’s coup d’état in August 1772 she travelled to Berlin with her daughter Sofia Albertina. It was probably in this connection that she received the gift. The gilt clock with its sculptural decoration is in the early neo-Classicistic style.
