In 1732 Taraval was summoned Stockholm to work as a decorative painter in the Palace. These sketches in oil – full of Rococo playfulness and elegance – were made for the east and west ceiling paintings in the Palace chapel. As Taraval was forbidden to take private commissions, almost all of his Swedish paintings were royal commissions. Taraval taught Swedish artists at the Drawing Academy and was important for the development of Rococo in Sweden.
