Cracks through centre of panel; heavy horizontal cracking across picture surface; surface severely abraded This icon and cat. no 48 are fragments of the same Deesis. Judging by the Tretyakov Gallery’s inventory numbering, we may assume that they also possessed a third panel from this Deesis. Typical - ly Novgorodian characteristics are the elongated figures, the background col - our and the thinly applied paint. The painting is of relatively high quality. [slut]
