BiografiBiografi: [2021-01-05] Moving to Stockholm in 1947, James Krenov studied at the furniture school run by Swedish cabinetmaker Carl Malmsten. Krenov’s work is renowned for its elegant simplicity and appreciation for the beauty of wood, as evident in his cabinet. Krenov specialized in the chest-on-stand form, characterized by a tall, narrow profile and attenuated legs that was found in Malmsten’s work. Writing about teaching in his first book A Cabinetmaker’s Notebook (1976), Krenov encouraged “an exchange between America and Europe” in order to advance good furniture production. After teaching numerous workshops in the United States, Krenov founded the Fine Woodworking program at the College of the Redwoods in Fort Bragg, California, moving there in 1981.
