The Florentine sculptor Massimiliano Soldani produced small bronzes, coins and medals. Throughout his career he received commissions from the Medici family, Florence’s ruling dynasty. His groups are characterised by lively interaction between the figures, as in Christ weeping. Soldani’s wax models were later used by the Ginori porcelain factory to make ceramic reproductions of his sculptures. This group consisted of fifteen connected figures.
