In her marriage to Alexander Roslin, Marie Suzanne Giroust had three daughters and two sons in quick succession, while continuing to pursue her career as a pastel portraitist. Quite naturally, her own children were her favourite sitters. The works on display were presented by two of the artist’s descendants.
