When Hera’s priestess in Argos was about to miss a ceremony because there were no oxen to draw her chariot, her sons Cleobis and Biton undertook the task instead. Afterwards, their grateful mother asked the gods to grant them the finest present that a person can be given. The brothers then fell asleep for ever after. In this imaginative panorama of Rome the carriage is seen entering the Forum with the temple to the divine twins Castor and Pollux in the foreground.
