When Hera’s priestess in Argos was about to miss a ceremony as she lacked oxen to pull her chariot, her sons Cleobis and Biton undertook the task instead. Afterwards, their grateful mother asked the gods to grant them the finest gift that a person can receive. The brothers then fell asleep for all eternity. In this imaginative panorama of Rome, the chariot enters the Forum with the temple to the divine twins Castor and Pollux in the foreground.
