In 1854, Amalia Lindegren studied historical painting in Munich. Here you would find the world’s leading artists of the genre and magnificent museums where she could be inspired by both older masters and the latest within contemporary art. During her stay in the city, Lindegren produced a sensitive study of a thoughtful man wearing a turban. For what purpose is not known, but it may have been done for a larger composition with a Biblical subject.
