BiographyPeter Sni Jers painted genre paintings, landscapes,
animals and still lifes and also worked as a graphic
artist. He was born in Antwerp and was for some time
the pupil of Alexander van Bredael in 1694/1695. In
1705 he became a master in Brussels and in 1707 a
master in Antwerp’s Guild of St. Luke. He also travelled
to England and was for some time active in
London as a portraitist. His paintings usually depict
different kinds of people, flowers or vegetables. Peter
Snijers also assembled an important collection of
Dutch and Flemish painting.
