BiographyJan Baptist Lambrechts, who was born in
Antwerp, lived in Lille from 1703 and acted as an art
dealer there before returning to his native city in
1709. In 1721 he was collaborating with Ouden Voetboog.
Where he spent the last years of his life is
unknown but we cannot rule out the possibility that
he travelled to Germany and then to Vienna, where
many of his works are preserved today. Lambrechts
mainly produced genre paintings following in Jan
Josef Horeman I’s footsteps with motifs of inn scenes,
peasants dancing and vegetable sellers.
