BiographyFamily of artists, architects and stage set designers:
Ferdinando Gallo Bibiena 1657-1743
Francesco Bibiena (Galli) 1659-1739
Giuseppe Bibiena (Galli) 1696-1757
Antonio Bibiena (Galli) born 1697/1698, dead 1774
Carlo Bibiena (Galli) born 1721/1725/1728, dead 1787

Ur Bjurström, Per, "Italian Drawings vol IIII":
Members of the Bibiena family and their collaborators have filled literally hundreds of sketchbooks with their "primi pensieri". In addition there are finished sheets, and more than two hundred etchings, duly signed or inscribed. Nevertheless, the basis for making individual attributions is usually rather weak, and many suggested attributions hardly convincing.
The "Bibiena" drawings in Nationalmuseum are among the less important sheets by members of the Bibiena family and their school. We have therefore chosen not to assign individual sheets to specific artists.
