This painting was commissioned by the ironworks’ owner, Carl Wahrendorff. He had acquired Aspa in 1784, expanding the estate and its ironworks with the manufacturing of nails, scythes and horseshoes. Wahrendorff also constructed new buildings, such as the farmhouse, and established parks, gardens and new roads. This was what Elias Martin aimed to document in his large panoramic view.
