of single board with one spline inlaid
from one side; back painted brown.

CONSERVATION: Restored prior to entering
NM: background and frame repainted in
19th century; minor retouches mainly on
borders. Scattered losses of paint layers;
gold on halos abraded; panel warped
Most of the wording in Anna’s text
band has disappeared. The warrior
Saint Demetrius holds a lance in his
left hand and a sword in his right.
Prob ably a family icon, possibly made
in connection with a wedding.
