Georg Desmarées studied in Munich, where he became court painter in 1731. Johan Arckenholtz was a Swedish historian and political scientist, known mainly for his research on Queen Christina. In 1732 he published an important work on foreign policy, in which he was critical of the pro-French policy of the Hat Party. Arckenholtz’s political convictions earned him a spell in prison. He later worked as a librarian in Kassel.
