Oscar Björck’s portraits of the writer Verner von Heidenstam and artists P. S. Krøyer and Prince Eugen are among the most appreciated works of the turn of the 20th century. His wide-ranging career took in the roles of both professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and portraitist with commissions from the royal family. Björck also curated a number of exhibitions and was Sweden’s representative on the committees for the world expos in Chicago in 1893 and Paris in 1900.
